About the Artist

Praween Piangchoompoo
(Printmaker)
Praween’s woodcut prints are profound expressions of his thoughts and emotions, meticulously crafted using the reduction woodcut technique. Working with a single woodblock, he undergoes a rigorous cycle of carving and printing multiple times. This highly precise and calculated process creates delicate, overlapping layers of color that gradually build the final image. The result is a body of work that exudes a unique sense of life, characterized by its signature softness and profound depth.

His complex creative journey begins with the exploration of spaces, objects, and surrounding atmospheres to form initial sketches. Through the repetitive and layered process of carving and printing, the image slowly comes to life. Ultimately, Praween's artworks serve as thoughts carved into motion—a form of visual poetry that invites viewers to immerse themselves in evocative atmospheres, fading memories, and inner perceptions.
